Supernova Mazurite

Today is the day that I finally reached Supernova. A little past due on my set goal but regardless I am happy with how long it took me. I feel like 200k VPP's should be very attainable this year, possibly 300k but that would be a pretty big grind for the rest of the year and I'm gonna want some time off.

I've been working on my heads up game lately playing SNG's.. I tilted pretty hard at first playing the new heads up hyper-turbos on stars and couldn't handle the swings. I don't feel like having to try and grind those for 1-2% ROI when I can improve my overall heads up game by playing a lot deeper in the regular turbo heads up Sit & Go's. I've been doing a lot better in those than the hypers and I can already notice an improvement in my game playing those. I feel like heads up is capable of improving your game all around. It's completely different from most other games but heads up gets you to think a lot more about your opponent and their ranges and that's really important in poker. That's the name of the game.

Recent Results

It's getting kinda late and I'm ready for bed but I feel like I should make a quick post and make an update on things. I haven't been grinding as hard as I could have as usual and after being a degen in $50NL losing $1300 earlier in June made things a lot harder. I could probably be Supernova by now if it weren't for that because I really didn't make very many VPP's there. I was playing HU and 6max and even though I feel like I could probably get really good there and be a very profitable player I just won't make as much money there as I will in SNG's right now. I realized that after about a week... Besides I do have to work on my emotions when it comes to cash, so I have restricted myself from cash games for the time being. It's okay though because I've made most of that money lost in cash back just by being on the SNG leaderboards lately. I got 2nd last week on the Neptune Low Orbit for $600 and a couple of decent but not great places in the Uranus Low and High Orbits for a little over $300. Easy money.

So anyways I've got like 73k VPP's now and I'm definitely still looking to achieve my goal to make it to Supernova by the end of this month for sure, though there is one problem. I'll be getting my wisdom teeth taken out on the 11th of this month and I probably won't play for a few days, so the days that I do play now and after recovery really have to count. I really have had a hard time to stick to a really good work ethic too considering all I want to do is go out and party now that summer is finally here. It's tough to stay cooped up playing poker when you know you can be doing so many other things. Seeing the sun again is great though =).

For anyone who's interested, I made almost 6k last month which is alright. I had what is the largest downswing I've ever had in SNG's for about 3k. I basically had like 5 losing days in a row which I'm not used to at all lol but as you can see the month still turned up on the better side of things.

On top of this I'm already up just over 2k this month and my backer has got me playing $100 18mans now so the swings are definitely a lot bigger on a day to day basis, but I'm really excited to be moving up so quickly. So yeah, just thought I'd update this blog of mine so everyone knows I haven't gone busto or anything lol and I'mma just keep doin' what I'm doin'. Maybe I'll just go Supernova cash in a bunch of bonuses and party for the rest of summer ;)

Goals to Supernova and Recent SNG Results

So for the last half hour or so I was just sitting around browsing the web. I hardly played poker today considering I was working vigorously on a computer that I was having major issues with. So anyways I thought it's time I start actually making some posts on my blog.

To start things off, I'd like to say I'm doing very very well in the SNG department, and have also had a couple of decent chances with MTT's as well but to no avail, nothing worth talking about. I did get a nice break from poker and out of the country though. I went to Tulum, Mexico for a week to participate in my aunt's wedding. It was a really good vacation overall. I drank a ton and got to meet some really cool people. I even met someone who used to skate with one of my buddies back home, which was pretty crazy. It was really nice to see another part of the world though. Aside from traveling around Canada seeing Relatives and friends, I've only been to one other place and that was California three and a half years ago. So yeah, I definitely had a good time.

So back to Poker... I must say I'm pretty impressed with myself, my results have been really good in SNG's. I feel like my game is continually evolving and I continue to try new things as well. The only thing I would have liked better up to this point, is more volume, but I can't really fight that one considering I didn't really have the time until recently getting back from my Trip last week. I started playing again on the 14th, putting in just over 30 hours since then and making a good chunk of dough. I have some pretty sick stats over the last 1500 SNG's since switching to less tables and higher BI's and I will leave a screenshot of that at the end of this post.

So now playing up to $60 SNG's I think it's pretty obvious I will be making Supernova this year. So the real question for me at this point is when? What is my goal?
Right now I've got 34k VPP's so far this year. So I'm a little behind, but that's okay because I can catch up extremely fast. I feel like I will have 40k by the end of this month easy enough and I should be able to make 20k VPP's a month from now on forward. And I believe that's playing comfortably with very little pressure. So here's what I'm gonna do. I'm gonna up the pressure and shoot for a better goal than 20k VPP's a month (which would get me to Supernova by September). I am gonna shoot for the end of July. My goal is to make 66,000 VPP's by the end of July to become Supernova! Nuff' said.

Learning As I Move Up.

Wow, it's been sooo long since I've made a post on my blog. Since my last post, a lot has happened, especially today. I have been doing a lot of work on my game and have myself a great coach now. I'm playing less tables and higher buy-ins along with a much wider variety of games in my day to day play. I've binked a couple $27 45's and am throwing in some 9 and 18-man games and even some 180's (I also binked a $7 180 not long ago) =).

So anyways, the amount of volume and time I've been putting in hasn't been very high due to the fact that I've got a buddy visiting me for a while but will do what I can to put in more volume. I feel like I'm playing better than I have in a long time and am constantly learning and to top it off, I placed 4th in the $11 2.5k GTD Turbo for $1142.35 making today the biggest day I've had so far in my poker career. So that's all very exciting for me being the 2nd FT I've ever made it to with scheduled MTT's. The one before that was a $1.10 where I ended up splitting it 3-ways for $410 each, nothing too special =p.

But anyways yeah, I think I might just chill for the rest of the day, maybe play a few SNG's but that's about it. Today's cash just brought me out of my 'rut' haha.

Here's my updated graph from SharkScope:

I'll be sure to be posting again soon :)

Swingaments

I'm extremely frustrated right now. And kind of have to vent I guess, so I guess that's one good thing about this blog lol. I've never had such terrible swings in my life. I don't even think these are natural and I feel like I'm on Perma-Tilt. I can't play without getting frustrated and generally this is very unlike me. Generally I don't play really bad on tilt or nothing, I don't do anything overly crazy though it's possible I do get a tad spewy but not to the point to make me a losing player in most cases. I'm just not sure where I stand anymore though, I thought I was doing well and was one of the better regs on the tables and now I just feel like a fish. I'm now on a $950 downswing in the $6 45's along with a 2,000 game breakeven stretch which I think some will say definately happens, but -$950 at $6's??? This is just way too fucked up. I mean you can't honestly tell me that's possible if even just 10% ROI is EV for me.

To top things off I had a few deep runs in some MTT's but couldn't run good enough to FT them. I busted 28th in the $7.50 turbo along with a 21st in a $2r and to make things just that much sweeter I FT bubbled the 4.40 turbo. That has not helped with the frustration I've been going through with my 45's. Anyways I'm not sure what I can do at the moment, especially considering my attitude towards poker right now is filled with so much negativity, it's not good for my game. I also have big issues with reviewing my game cause I just never find any big problems, especially when I'm frustrated like I am, and I think that's pretty standard. I guess I can only relax, or try to. Here's what swingaments look like:

Power Outages and Lazyness

Hey guys, it's been a little while yet again since I've really done any updates with what I've been up to lately, but to sum it up I dropped my $12 45's after my massive downswing, got my confidence back which I was very proud of myself for doing by the way, and crushed those $6's over a 3 day period bringing myself pretty much back to breakeven after losing $900 in $12's and $600+ in $6's. It was a very satisfying 3 days for me. Now what was not so satisfying was the power outage we experienced her on Sunday. It lasted from late Saturday night until 4:30pm the next day leaving me with a ZERO volume day lol. And then to top it off I decided to be really lazy and take the day off today =p so I definately didnt' make the 10k VPP's I wanted to this month by today but I did manage almost 7,000 bringing me to just over 18,000VPP's so far this year. Almost 1/5th of the way to Supernova =D This will be a very exciting journey I'm sure of it, and I can't wait to get back to the $12's and take another shot. I will be doing that as soon as I feel comfortable with my roll and the variance.

I'm gonna have to start adding more 45's with my $6's very soon though because me and yeeluvspizza on PokerStars got a little prop bet going for $10 to see who can make it to 5,000 45 Turbo games played starting back on Thursday, February 10th at 8am PST. At the moment he's just over 1k and I'm just under 600 so I better pick up the pace cause I don't like losing! ;)

Downswings and Bad Dreams

45 Turbos... 180 Turbos?... MTT Turbos?... Turbos-Turbos-Turbos...... It's all I dream about and it's killin me. I need to find peace with poker once again. After this dreadful week it's gonna be tough though. One minute your in first on the leaderboard and the next minute your down in the gutter wonderin how you got there. I think it's safe to say that I have mostly been running really bad lately, especially in the $12's which I started playing a few days ago and am actually going to discontinue playing until I rebuild my confidence and my bankroll. I'll be back at the $6's for at least the rest of this week after having my $12's lose almost $900 in the first 350+ games I've played there and my $6's on a 70 BI downswing at the same time.

So anyways I'm just gonna start getting up earlier and grinding earlier. I want to get a lot of games in for the rest of this week and hopefully that will pick me back up on my feet and also complete those 10k VPP's I want in first two weeks of February. It's gonna be close... Time to get some sleep though... Goodnight.

The Road to Success

Ahhhh the end of the month :) Such a good feeling, especially when you've been making a decent profit. I definately enjoyed the last part of this month though. I played the WBCOOP which was good considering I got myself 2 $11 and 1 $22 SCOOP tickets. I missed out on a couple of the games that ran during the WBCOOP but played 3 NLHE events including the main event and 1 PLO8 event along with the 8-game event which I pretty much just played like a fish in because I'm not all that great when it comes to 8-game and I was running like 35 tables at the time lol.

Anyways aside from the WBCOOP I just grinded pretty hard and kept the pace going. Haven't really done too well in MTT's lately, but will continue to put in the volume. I did have an exclusive day for just MTT's on Sunday. It was pretty sick, I won't complain about my bad beats or nothing but I ran horrible playing $11 MTT's and under. I did however bink a $4.40 180man to make up for most of my losses that day :) so yeah just been doing what I do best and at this point in time that's poker lol. Got myself almost 11.1k VPP's for this month so I'm already more then 1/10th of the way to Supernova though I would like to be much closer then that by the end of this month and I'm sure I will be.

But yeah so I'll be playing for myself hopefully for the rest of my life if not a long time now. As much as I enjoyed being staked by Eric on PokerStars, I've got to move on and be able to hold my own. I'm glad to have had his support though and won't forget it. Thanks again Eric :)

Okay definately making this way too long just rambling on about my month. So game plan for February I'm looking at another 10k VPP's in less then 2 weeks and to start throwing in some $12 45's by the end of this week for sure unless things don't go well which I find highly unlikely to be honest. Oh and of course just keep taking shots at those MTT's. As long as I play well and remain focused I'll score one sooner or later it just takes patience. So yeah have a great month to all who decide to play unless your playing against me of course! (haha jokes) I'll end this blog with a screenshot of this month's profit and yeah don't expect me to drop off the 45 leaderboard on SharkScope either.

Good Times

So I'm still going at it, and it's going pretty good. I had a pretty good day earlier today making like 50 buy-ins. As of right now I'm placed 10th on the 4-6 Table/$5-$15 SharkScope leaderboard which I think is pretty sick and also a great start for me this year. I've Still been playing $6's and will continue to do so for most likely quite some time.

Oh cool thing by the way, I got my PS3 controller hooked up to my computer for grinding. It's sooo good and so much more relaxing. It's a lot less stressful and it's set up as my mouse with hotkeys for my games along with my music and a couple of other simple little things I threw in there. It was definately worth it :) Anyways it's getting late and I'm gonna get some rest. Goodnight.

A Good Start to the New Year

I'm just gonna come out and say it... $3's suck! lol I'm so sick of $3's I don't ever want to play them again really... I mean I have problems mixing $3's with $6's because of the major differences in the types of opponents that I'm up against. I can't play my $6 strategy in a $3 game it just doesn't work for me and has hurt my ROI at the $3's quite a lot trying to do that. But hey who cares cause I'm done with those games now, I'm running strictly $6's now along with some micro MTT's just about everyday. Still grinding a ton, about six hours a day. I broke $600 and closed the stake with SmooveSquid last week just in time to start up a new contract with my buddy Eric, Sheepish_mo on PokerStars :)

It's been going really well and am very happy with where I'm at for the month now. I had a pretty nice day yesterday with $6's making just over $310 and my overall ROI is making a fast recovery. Anyways these long days of grindin' are startin to get to me but no one said it was easy. Oh and I'll definately be going platinum by the end of the month. My goal is to have over 10,000 VPP's this month and to shoot for Supernova and get there as fast as I possibly can this year. I'm at 2,851 VPP's as of this morning and will be GoldStar by the end of the day no problem.

This is from January 3rd up until Januardy 12th.
This graph includes 522 $3's and 767 $6's along with a handful of MTT's that I've played so far this year.
So far I'm down money with the MTT's but I hope to score one soon :)

Happy New Year

Okay so I didn't break $400 on my stake for the 45 turbos until after the end of December. Actually I broke $400 yesterday playing the $3.25's which was a sick run and had me profiting over $200 in less than 150 games. So that was nice. I did manage to get the VPP's I needed for my last $50 bonus of the year as well, so I'm glad I got that out of the way. Anyways I've started throwing in some $6's with my $3's and did fairly well today with $100 in profit :)

I'm gonna be grinding really hard this month, wether it's for a backer or myself, but I've been putting in just over 6 hours of grinding the last two days and I plan to keep it that way. I'm not sure exactly what my long-term plan is at the moment, but I hope to be grinding on my own starting at the $6.50's by the end of this month. I'll keep the blog updated.

Happy New Year!
