SCOOP My Way Through Life

Sooo I ended up bubbling the UKIPT event here in Dublin... I had around 33,000 chips at 1200/2400 at the time and got it in with JJ only to end up against AK in a flip. To my epic demise, the flop brings an AQ6... end of story.

I got over it pretty quick with a night out on the town of Dublin, and I have got to say they go fucking hard! It's a party until the early morning and walking around in a club without having a drink spilled on you was near impossible. Anyways I've never had so many vodbulls in my life, and don't plan on that again. Worst feeling ever is to wake up the next day after drinking so many redbulls and other energy drinks of that sort. Regardless though I wake up to load SCOOP and other MTT's. For the SCOOP I loaded both NLHE low and medium events.

The $1050 Main Event was the highlight of the last couple of days. I started off the tournament doubling very early for stacks. The hand was clutch and I feel I played it optimally but to say the least I chipped up with bottom set versus top two. It wasn't long before most of my focus was this tournament. At some point I stopped loading MTT's and I'm down to 3 or 4 tables. This is when I really got my game on. I stayed fairly deep for most of the first day of the tournament but happened to end up with only 25bb with 74 players remaining for Day 2.

25bb isn't a lot but I happened to get back in the game but in the end, I ended up busting 10th on Final Table bubble for heaps of chips. I lost AKs to 99 for around a 9mil pot. I would've been in 2nd, maybe 1st, I can't remember.. I'm tired. But anyways I feel like I played very well throughout this tournament and definitely deserve what I received ($22,000)  $560,000 for 1st. There were a couple hands that I remember playing that I really didn't like much, as I feel there usually is in a tournament that you play for almost 30 hours lol but yeah other than that I'm very happy with my game at the moment and I'm looking to take most of my volume into the MTT world.

Anyways, I'm surprised this blog post even turned out this long. I haven't been in the blogging mood in such a long time but I guess I just went on with this one. Anyhow, sick night. I'm off to bed, it's late here in Dublin :)

UKIPT Dublin Main Event

So I'm really tired right now, but I thought I would give everyone on my blog a quick update as to what's been happening with me lately.. Not a whole lot of grinding was done online for the last month and a half. I have my reasons, but in the end they were excuses that just turned out to be -EV for my work ethic and I'd say I regret it but what's done is done.

On a positive note, I'm out in Dublin, Ireland with bigbluffzinc, Frenzuh, and $indabank111 and we are all just chillin' out. Along side of that we all bought into the UKIPT Dublin Main Event which is pretty awesome, especially considering me and $indabank111 are still in it. He's chip leader with a whopping 151k going into Day 2 tomorrow after playing Day 1B today. They've done an article on him. Check out the link: http://www.pokerstarsblog.com/ukipt/2012/ukipt-dublin-s3-kollander-rinses-the-day-094567.html

Also playing Day 1B today, I'm sitting 13th in chips out of the 244 players that remain. You can find who's left and the chip counts here: http://www.pokerstarsblog.com/tournaments/ukipt/season-3-4/dublin-2/chipcount.html

Anyways I'm tired and need my rest, I'll be sure to update my results after tomorrow. Good luck all and have a good weekend.

Work Ethic

So it's been a really long time since I've made a post. I really don't have any good reason for it, but I do know that I'm very committed to posting more often. It will keep me motivated. Rather then talk about how things have been since August, I'm just gonna say it. I've been lazy lol.

I basically took off the first two weeks of January and the first week of February and when I was playing, I put in terrible volume. I'm about breakeven for the year. Mostly due to poor volume and my large downswing in the $100 18's. I really feel like I'm ready to put in some serious work now though. I even went as far as to buy myself a little notebook to keep track of a couple things. I've started off this month recording how many hours I play poker to motivate me to play more, and also how much money I spend during the following months. I feel like me recording my hours will allow me to stay motivated to work harder if I happen to notice that I start slacking off. It's also important for me to keep track of my expenses during any given month because my spending habits have been terrible since moving to Vancouver (not sure if I mentioned this).

Anyways so far so good. I've already put in almost 300 games in the first 2 days of this month, playing about 10-12 tables at a time for now. I'm looking to play upwards of 3000 games this month. I'd really like to achieve 100k VPP's this month but it seems unlikely with the amount of tables I run at a time right now with an ABI of $40. Though if I keep my expenses down this month and do well I'm gonna look into buying 2 new monitors. At least 24 inch monitors =)
I'll be sure to keep this blog updated. No sense in turning back now. Good Luck.

Supernova Mazurite

Today is the day that I finally reached Supernova. A little past due on my set goal but regardless I am happy with how long it took me. I feel like 200k VPP's should be very attainable this year, possibly 300k but that would be a pretty big grind for the rest of the year and I'm gonna want some time off.

I've been working on my heads up game lately playing SNG's.. I tilted pretty hard at first playing the new heads up hyper-turbos on stars and couldn't handle the swings. I don't feel like having to try and grind those for 1-2% ROI when I can improve my overall heads up game by playing a lot deeper in the regular turbo heads up Sit & Go's. I've been doing a lot better in those than the hypers and I can already notice an improvement in my game playing those. I feel like heads up is capable of improving your game all around. It's completely different from most other games but heads up gets you to think a lot more about your opponent and their ranges and that's really important in poker. That's the name of the game.

Recent Results

It's getting kinda late and I'm ready for bed but I feel like I should make a quick post and make an update on things. I haven't been grinding as hard as I could have as usual and after being a degen in $50NL losing $1300 earlier in June made things a lot harder. I could probably be Supernova by now if it weren't for that because I really didn't make very many VPP's there. I was playing HU and 6max and even though I feel like I could probably get really good there and be a very profitable player I just won't make as much money there as I will in SNG's right now. I realized that after about a week... Besides I do have to work on my emotions when it comes to cash, so I have restricted myself from cash games for the time being. It's okay though because I've made most of that money lost in cash back just by being on the SNG leaderboards lately. I got 2nd last week on the Neptune Low Orbit for $600 and a couple of decent but not great places in the Uranus Low and High Orbits for a little over $300. Easy money.

So anyways I've got like 73k VPP's now and I'm definitely still looking to achieve my goal to make it to Supernova by the end of this month for sure, though there is one problem. I'll be getting my wisdom teeth taken out on the 11th of this month and I probably won't play for a few days, so the days that I do play now and after recovery really have to count. I really have had a hard time to stick to a really good work ethic too considering all I want to do is go out and party now that summer is finally here. It's tough to stay cooped up playing poker when you know you can be doing so many other things. Seeing the sun again is great though =).

For anyone who's interested, I made almost 6k last month which is alright. I had what is the largest downswing I've ever had in SNG's for about 3k. I basically had like 5 losing days in a row which I'm not used to at all lol but as you can see the month still turned up on the better side of things.

On top of this I'm already up just over 2k this month and my backer has got me playing $100 18mans now so the swings are definitely a lot bigger on a day to day basis, but I'm really excited to be moving up so quickly. So yeah, just thought I'd update this blog of mine so everyone knows I haven't gone busto or anything lol and I'mma just keep doin' what I'm doin'. Maybe I'll just go Supernova cash in a bunch of bonuses and party for the rest of summer ;)

Goals to Supernova and Recent SNG Results

So for the last half hour or so I was just sitting around browsing the web. I hardly played poker today considering I was working vigorously on a computer that I was having major issues with. So anyways I thought it's time I start actually making some posts on my blog.

To start things off, I'd like to say I'm doing very very well in the SNG department, and have also had a couple of decent chances with MTT's as well but to no avail, nothing worth talking about. I did get a nice break from poker and out of the country though. I went to Tulum, Mexico for a week to participate in my aunt's wedding. It was a really good vacation overall. I drank a ton and got to meet some really cool people. I even met someone who used to skate with one of my buddies back home, which was pretty crazy. It was really nice to see another part of the world though. Aside from traveling around Canada seeing Relatives and friends, I've only been to one other place and that was California three and a half years ago. So yeah, I definitely had a good time.

So back to Poker... I must say I'm pretty impressed with myself, my results have been really good in SNG's. I feel like my game is continually evolving and I continue to try new things as well. The only thing I would have liked better up to this point, is more volume, but I can't really fight that one considering I didn't really have the time until recently getting back from my Trip last week. I started playing again on the 14th, putting in just over 30 hours since then and making a good chunk of dough. I have some pretty sick stats over the last 1500 SNG's since switching to less tables and higher BI's and I will leave a screenshot of that at the end of this post.

So now playing up to $60 SNG's I think it's pretty obvious I will be making Supernova this year. So the real question for me at this point is when? What is my goal?
Right now I've got 34k VPP's so far this year. So I'm a little behind, but that's okay because I can catch up extremely fast. I feel like I will have 40k by the end of this month easy enough and I should be able to make 20k VPP's a month from now on forward. And I believe that's playing comfortably with very little pressure. So here's what I'm gonna do. I'm gonna up the pressure and shoot for a better goal than 20k VPP's a month (which would get me to Supernova by September). I am gonna shoot for the end of July. My goal is to make 66,000 VPP's by the end of July to become Supernova! Nuff' said.

Learning As I Move Up.

Wow, it's been sooo long since I've made a post on my blog. Since my last post, a lot has happened, especially today. I have been doing a lot of work on my game and have myself a great coach now. I'm playing less tables and higher buy-ins along with a much wider variety of games in my day to day play. I've binked a couple $27 45's and am throwing in some 9 and 18-man games and even some 180's (I also binked a $7 180 not long ago) =).

So anyways, the amount of volume and time I've been putting in hasn't been very high due to the fact that I've got a buddy visiting me for a while but will do what I can to put in more volume. I feel like I'm playing better than I have in a long time and am constantly learning and to top it off, I placed 4th in the $11 2.5k GTD Turbo for $1142.35 making today the biggest day I've had so far in my poker career. So that's all very exciting for me being the 2nd FT I've ever made it to with scheduled MTT's. The one before that was a $1.10 where I ended up splitting it 3-ways for $410 each, nothing too special =p.

But anyways yeah, I think I might just chill for the rest of the day, maybe play a few SNG's but that's about it. Today's cash just brought me out of my 'rut' haha.

Here's my updated graph from SharkScope:

I'll be sure to be posting again soon :)
